I AM NOT NAKED
As the first ‘24 hours’ close in on this project, I find myself still baffled by the rush of media attention we’ve gotten so far and the absurd number of followers we were able to garner in such a short time and with such minimal effort … For some reason however, I can’t seem to brush off the idea that this attention does not all come from the right mindset.
We did our best to keep the focus on both Jackie Chamoun and the principles of freedom of expression & choice as key rights that should not be scrutinized, but it seems as if the fuss is really all about just one thing: People got naked.
Sadly, this still shocks in these parts of the world.
Even the positive feedback we’ve gotten, in some part, seems to have missed the point.
We got naked to get your attention (because we knew we would), and now that we have it, we’d like to tell you that we find it somewhat appalling that semi-nudity, as proven in the past 24 hours, still amasses much more interest than real issues that we face everyday and that deserve our attention and initiative.
Focusing on a semi-nude fashion shot (by a serious and talented athlete representing us proudly at the 2014 Olympics, none-the-less) rather than serious matters that harm us and threaten our well-being and safety on a daily basis is, well, not cool.
#StripForJackie if you’d like, but don’t miss out on the point behind it all.
